ASSOCIATIONS

a)

TEACHER’S ASSOCIATION

  • The Teacher’s Association is called “St. Thomas College of Teacher Education Teacher’s Association”.
  • The objectives of the Association is to study and discuss educational subjects and subjects of professional and general interest and also to promote social awareness.
  • All students of the college are members of the association.
  • The Principal is the ex-officio President of the association and one of the teaching staff of the Training college nominated by the Principal shall be the Vice President.
  • The affairs of the association is managed by an executive committee which include the President, the Vice-President, the Chairman, the General Secretary, the Councillor, the Secretaries of the Fine Arts Club and Sports Club, Magazine Editor and six student representatives from the respective subject groups.
  • Attendance is compulsory for members at all meetings of the Association.
  • The Principal shall be kept informed of all Association activities.

b)

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (P.T.A.)
As the duration of the course is for one year, we form a fresh parent teacher association every year. The association includes all faculty members and parents of all students. It supports the various developmental programmes of the college. Every year, it raises a certain amount from its members. The collections are recorded and proper accounts are kept. An executive committee is selected from the members of PTA to look after its administration.

THE FLAMBEAU - ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
An Alumni Association is functioning formally in the college. A registration fee of Rs. 200 is collected from students for life membership. The general body meeting of the alumni association is held on the 2nd Saturday of October annually. It provides opportunities for the old students to keep in contact with the institution in which they have studied and the members can render valuable service to the institution as resource persons and in conducting various curricular and extra curricular programmes. The alumni association also publishes ‘ Gurusameeksha’ a newsletter magazine every year.

CATHOLIC STUDENTS MOVEMENT (C.S.M)
All the catholic students of the college shall be ordinarily members of C.S.M. Various activities shall be undertaken by the C.S.M. members with the objectives of moulding spiritually inspired and socially committed teachers.

COLLEGE UNION

  • The college union is called 'St.Thomas College & Education Students Union'.
  • All students of the college are members of the students' union
  • Principal is the ex-officeo president of the college union and one of the teaching staff nominated by the principal shall be the staff advisor to the Students' union.
  • The affairs of the student's union are managed by an executive committee which include, the principal, the staff advisor, the chairman, the vice-chairman, the general secretary, the counselor, the arts club secretary, editor of the college magazine, sports secretary and other students' representative from respective optional classes.
  • Attendance is compulsory for the members in all the meeting of the union
  • The principal shall be informed of all union activities
  • The objectives of the college union are:
  • To study and discuss educational subjects and subjects of professional and general interest
  • To promote social awareness
  • To develop the qualities for democratic leadership
  • To extend citizenship training among students.
