GENERAL DISCIPLINE AND CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
The following guidelines will help the students to behave in a courteous manner and to maintain general discipline in the college premises.
- Our mornings begin with a prayer song. The students should join the prayer and have to keep standing till the song ends.
- All the students have to be inside the classroom before the second bell goes. The students have to enter the respective classes soon after the bell rings for the next hour.
- Rise from your seats and greet the teacher when he/she enters the classroom. Rise again and thank the teacher when she leaves the classroom. Our students are expected to hold values, be polite and courteous respect and greet seniors and authorities both inside and outside the campus.
- All are expected to be punctual and regular in attendance. No student will enter or leave the classroom when the session is on, without the permission of the teacher concerned.
- Our students are expected to be clean, tidy and pleasing in appearance without being singular or conspicuous. The irattire should be simple and modest.
- All are expected to keep the college campus, classrooms, verandahs, auditorium etc. clean and tidy. Students are expected to be eager and ready to assist the teachers or other staff in keeping our environment healthy and beautiful.
- Students are expected to spend their free hours in the library/reading room. They should not loiter along the verandahs or in the college premises.
- Smoking, chewing tobacco, pan masala, etc. is strictly prohibited in the college campus.
- Do not disfigure the walls, doors, windows, furniture etc. with graffiti, bills, engravings, etc. Littering classrooms and premises is also forbidden.
- Politics in any form is not allowed in the campus.
- Students are forbidden from attending or organizing any meeting, collecting money for any purpose, circulating or displaying any notice in the premises without the signature of the Principal or the concerned staff.
- If you have any grievance or complaint, approach the Grievance Redressal Cell.
- The student who prove their unfitness for the vocation of teaching during the course of study, who appear to be unsatisfactory in character and conduct and defective in disposition will have to discontinue his/her studies in this institution and will be send away by the Principal.
- The course certificate for the University examination will not be granted to any student unless the Principal is satisfied with his/her (a) conduct (b) progress in studies and (c) attendance.
ATTENDANCE
- Students should be punctual and regular in attendance.
- They are strictly forbidden from cutting classes. If there is sufficient reason to forego any one class they must get prior permission from the respective lecturer; but for more than one class, they must get leave from the Principal.
- Coming late to classes is a source of disturbance both to the teacher and the class, especially when it becomes frequent. Students are therefore required to avoid coming late.
- A student who does not answer when the roll call is taken or who arrives after the roll call may be marked absent.
- Those who have reasons for absenting from classes, have to apply for leave, ordinarily 24 hours before it can be availed of. Application for leave must be submitted in proper forms, failing which, leave will not be granted. Forms are available at the office, at the rate of 25ps. per copy.
- No student will be granted more than ten days of casual leave in the year and more than seven at a stretch inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays.
- The Principal may demand the production of Medical Certificate when casual leave applied for is due to sickness.
- No leave will be granted ordinarily close upon or in continuation of holidays.
- Student who are absent without leave for one full day will be fined Re. 1 per day; for a part thereof will be fined 50ps. besides other punishment that the Principal feels necessary to impose.
- A student absenting himself without leave for 15 consecutive working days will be removed from the rolls.
COLLEGE LIBRARY
- Only the members of the staff and students of the college are entitled to use the library.
- The service hours of the library are from 9.30 am to 12 noon and from 1.00 pm to 4.30 pm on all class days and from 10am to 4pm on other days except Sundays, public holidays and specially announced holidays of the college.
- Students are allowed to take only a note book into the library. Other books, umbrellas, bags, etc. shall be left at the entrance.
- Strict silence should be observed in and around the library.
- Students are permitted to walk amidst the book racks and to take any book for reading.
- No persons shall write upon, tear out or make any mark upon any book or article belonging to the library.
- Students are given borrower’s cards which are not transferable. Four books can be borrowed at a time, for a period of 7 days and must be returned on or before the date indicated in the book. An overdue charge of 50paise per volume will be levied per day (rounded to the next rupee) after the due date.
- To borrow a book from the library, find out the required book by searching through the book shelves or with the help of the library staff. Make the necessary entries in the borrower’s card. Then hand over the book to the library assistant who will make necessary entries in the ledger placed in the library and stamp the due date on the date label and issue the book.
- If a book is damaged or lost by a member, she or he shall pay the cost for replacing the book.
- Before leaving the counter the members must examine the book borrowed and report to the library staff any damage found therein. If they fail to do so, they will be held responsible for any damage detected afterwards.
- The librarian shall recall from a borrower any book at any time.
- Loan can be renewed for a further period of seven days, if the book is not required by others.
- Dictionaries, periodical publications, and other reference books shall not be lent out. If any of them is issued out with special permission for overnight reference, it shall be returned to the library the very next day as soon as the library opens.
- Members are not permitted to sub lend the books or cards issued to them.
- Books are issued to members of the staff when they make the necessary entries in the ledger maintained for them. At the end of the academic year they are expected to return all the books and periodicals borrowed.
- Every student is expected to make the best use of the college library and to maintain a record of his/her work. The records of library work shall be submitted to the respective teachers when asked for.
- The facilities of a xerox copier is provided in the library at nominal rates.
- Internet Services:- The library provides all sorts of Internet services including e-mail.

RESIDENCE OF STUDENTS
- Students, not residing with their parents or approved guardians, should normally reside in the hostels approved by the Principal.
- There are two approved hostels for the college; ‘St. Thomas Training College Hostel’, for men and ‘Carmel Hostel’ for women.
- Students desiring to live in lodges should get the permission from the Principal before any lodge is chosen.
- Students shall forward to the College office, in the prescribed form full information regarding their residence.
- Any subsequent change of residence shall be made only with the written permission of the Principal.
- For admission in the hostels, application should be made directly to the respective wardens after securing admission to the college.
- The mess is run on the dividing system and the rates vary according to the menu, the strength of the members and the fluctuation in prices of goods.
- There shall be two representatives in the men’s hostels elected by the members who will help the warden in the control of the mess and the checking of accounts in the men’s hostel.
- Students should obey the rules and directions given by the warden from time to time.
